10 things to do this May Half Term!

Half term is almost here (hurrah!), and it’s time to soak up the sunshine, burn off some energy, and make magical memories. Whether you’re staying local or planning a family mini-adventure, we’ve rounded up 10 things to do this May Half Term!

1. Beach Day 🏖️

Buckets, spades, sandy toes and salty chips. Whether you're in Brighton or Blackpool, a day at the beach is a classic half term winner. Don’t forget your Sun Hats!

Shop our Pale Blue Cub Hat.

2. Garden Camp-Out ⛺

Set up a tent, toast marshmallows, tell stories by torchlight and fall asleep under the stars – or just until bedtime!

3. Woodland Treasure Hunt 🌳

Turn your local walk into an adventure with a DIY scavenger hunt. Think pinecones, ladybirds, feathers, and funky shaped leaves. Print out a checklist or make one together with crayons before you go.

Shop our Pale Blue Bucket Hat.

4. Visit a Pick-Your-Own Farm 🍓

Fruit-picking is fun, delicious, and makes for the cutest family photos. Strawberries, rhubarb, and even early raspberries are often ripe in late May.

5. Make a bug hotel 🐞

Turn an afternoon in the garden into a science project by making your own insect hotel. Use sticks, pinecones, bark, and bamboo tubes.

Did you know Insect Week is buzzing closer (June 23rd), and you know what that means... it’s officially time for our Bug Hats 🐞🐝🐛🦋

6. Outdoor Cinema or Theatre 🎬

Look for local outdoor screenings or kid-friendly theatre in the park. Pack popcorn, blankets, and sun hats with ear protection for sound-sensitive little ones.

7. Wild Art in the Park 🎨

Grab some chalk, string, paper and tape, then create art using leaves, twigs, flower petals or even a bit of mud. Make nature crowns or sun-print collages.

8. Cycle Trail Adventure 🚴

Find a local family-friendly bike trail (like The Tissington Trail in the Peak District) and pack a picnic.

9. Mini City Safari 🦓

Explore your own town like a tourist. Create a checklist of “urban wildlife” – foxes, pigeons, dogs, etc. – and snap pics of quirky buildings, colourful doors, or local street art.

10. Family Photo Day 📸

Dress up in your favourite bright prints (yes, matching is encouraged), grab your Little Hotdog Watson hats and plan a family photo walk. You’ll come away with frame-worthy snaps and lots of giggles.

Wherever you’re heading this half term, take us with you! ☀️
